Major Milestone: Pyrum Innovations AG and Thermo Lysi SA Secure Funding for Greece’s Largest Tire Recycling Plant

We’re proud to announce a significant achievement for Pyrum Innovations AG and our partner Thermo Lysi SA with the support of the European Innovation Fund (EIF), the financing of our large-scale tire recycling project in Greece is now fully secured.

This landmark project will see the construction of one of Europe’s largest and most advanced pyrolysis facilities, based on Pyrum’s patented thermolysis technology, setting a new benchmark for sustainable circular carbon solutions.

A Flagship for Circular Innovation in Europe

The new plant, developed by Impactus Private Equity Group in partnership with Pyrum Innovations AG, represents a total investment of approximately €100 million. It has also been awarded a €29.4 million subsidy by the European Innovation Fund a clear vote of confidence in the project’s technological excellence and environmental impact.

Once completed, the facility will process around 45,000 tonnes of end-of-life tyres (ELTs) per year, converting them into high-value circular products such as Recovered Carbon Black (rCB) and Tyre Pyrolysis Oil (TPO). These critical materials will play a vital role in Europe’s green re-industrialization, supporting the continent’s transition to a low-carbon, resource-efficient future.

Project Highlights

  • Recycling Capacity: ~45,000 tonnes per year

  • Permits: All construction and environmental permits in place

  • Engineering: Detailed design and engineering works well underway

  • Funding: €29.4 million from the European Innovation Fund

  • Total Investment: ~€100 million

Leadership Perspective

“This funding is a clear endorsement of our technology and a signal for the future of circular economy in Europe,” said Pascal Klein, CEO of Pyrum Innovations AG. “Together with Thermo Lysi SA and Impactus Private Equity Group, we are creating one of the continent’s flagship recycling projects.”

Looking Ahead

The Thermo Lysi project marks a pivotal step in scaling sustainable innovation across Europe. By combining cutting-edge technology, strong partnerships, and a shared commitment to circularity, Pyrum Innovations AG and Thermo Lysi SA are driving forward the transformation of the tire recycling industry and setting a powerful example of how innovation can fuel sustainability.
